JCLEC 20th Anniversary Gala Dinner

On 31 July 2024 JCLEC hosted a gala dinner at the Semarang campus to commemorate its 20th anniversary.

This event bought together the JCLEC founders, former and present JCLEC executive staff, along with many distinguished guests from the Australian Federal Police, the Indonesian National Police, the Indonesian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and many of the countries around the world that have been instrumental in building JCLEC into what it is today.

The presence of these dignitaries was testament to the strong partnerships and enduring commitment that has driven JCLEC’s success throughout its first 20 years. The event was more than just a celebration of the past, but it was also an opportunity to it was attribute to the legacy of JCLEC.

The night’s agenda was carefully planned to offer moments of reflection, appreciation, and celebration. Guests from all around Indonesia and the world were greeted with a welcome drink, and the event officially opened with a captivating opening ceremony that featured a traditional dance performance and a video that showed JCLEC’s growth and achievements of the past two decades.

In the early days, the seeds of JCLEC were planted with a profound commitment to international cooperation in combating terrorism and transnational crime. This visionary initiative, conceived by our esteemed founders, envisioned a nexus where knowledge, expertise, and resources would converge to confront the complex challenges of our time.

Today, as we celebrate our achievements, we pay tribute to the founders whose vision and dedication laid the foundation for this remarkable institution. Their foresight and unwavering commitment have shaped JCLEC into what it is today – a cornerstone of international cooperation in law enforcement.

Following the opening, the JCLEC Executive Directors, INP Police Brigadier General Aby Nursetyanto and AFP Commander Danny Caruana delivered welcoming remarks, expressed their gratitude and pride in the JCLEC’s growth since it’s foundation.

AFP Commissioner, Reece Kershaw, and the Head of INP International Relations Division, Irjen. Pol. Dr. Krishna Murti, S.IK., M.Si. (who was representing the INP Chief) each delivered speeches that provided valuable insights into the significance of JCLEC’s work in supporting capacity development in combatting the transnational crime, and the importance of the facility to their respective law enforcement agencies.

They also featured in a symbolic gift exchange that symbolized the strength of the relationships and mutual respect between Indonesia National Police (INP) and Australian Federal Police (AFP).

To honor the contributions of key individuals, gifts were presented to the founders, former JCLEC Executive Directors, and sponsors, such as the Australian Government, the INP Education and Training Institutions, Global Affairs Canada, the New Zealand Government, United Kingdom Foreign, Commonwealth, and Development Office, United States of America Department of State and the Regional Support Office The Bali Process.

Other highlights of the night included special remarks from JCLEC’s founders, all of whom shared reflections on their time at JCLEC.

The JCLEC 20th anniversary gala dinner was not only a celebration of the past, but also affirmation of the 20-year principles of “cooperation, collaboration and commitment” as JCLEC moves to its next chapter. The event was a tribute to everyone who has contributed to JCLEC over the years and JCLEC’s commitment to sharing experiences, facilitating, and supporting the capacity development of law enforcement officers throughout Indonesia and the Southeast Asian region.

As JCLEC moves forward, it remains committed to its mission and values, striving for continued excellence and collaboration by “learning and understanding through shared experience”.
